A post in which we prepare for the trip

I felt surprisingly good this morning.  I had really expected a wicked hangover tinged with regret.  The car wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be.  It smelled bad, but not awful.  I did a surprisingly good job on it considering I was cleaning it up in the dark when I was tipsy.

Work was pretty quiet today, all things considered.  I really wish I'd had today to work on month end, but of course I don't get the figures until tomorrow.  Still if I could pull it together last month with Alan out of the office and Carla out Thursday and Friday also, I should be able to do it this month.

After work I headed to the shop to get my re-scheduled hair cut.  I was scheduled for 7pm though, instead of my usual 6pm.  That was a good thing because I had some errands to do.  I went by the liquor store (no comment needed there, but when Rhonda heard, she just said "That's gluttony.") so I would have some for the beach.  I got some o that new-fangled whipped cream flavored vodka.  That's either going to be awesome or well and truly nasty.  I love me some Total Wine & More

After that it was over to the pet store - just in time.  I was almost out of cat food.  Jinx would be most displeased.

Then I ran by CVS.  I picked up some of those pre-moistened cleaning cloths to try to get some of the effluential spray I missed from last night.  Vomick just goes everywhere.  I was cleaning a place on the carpet when I noticed that the inside of the windshield and side mirror (did I mention it was everywhere?) had turned milky with cleaner residue - 'streak free' my ass.  But there was nothing for it but to go pick up Rhonda.  I was almost out of time.

So I picked her up and took her to the shop with me.  I didn't know that Russ had scheduled appointments for pretty much everyone tonight.  Vince and Brian were there, as were Logan and Billy, and I had brought Rhonda.  We were a merry party, but we didn't get out of there (admittedly looking great) until almost 9pm. Late for dinner.

We had intended to go to Cafe Paulista, because it is Logan's favorite, and Vince and Brian had a coupon; but they were closed because it was Monday.  Yours truly didn't weep bitter tears of remorse - I ate there once and was underwhelmed.  We went to Denny's instead.  Granted we weren't aiming high on the culinary or nutritional game board, but it was late, we were starving, and it was proximal.

Logan and me at Denny's.  REALLY excited about upcoming food, and not at all anticipating the wait before us until we would actually get it

We thought the food would be quick, but sadly we were mistaken.  Our waitress tonight was pretty underwhelming.  She eventually enlisted the help of another of the waiters there (he's excellent - he's waited on us before - Lord only knows what he's doing at Denny's of all places) and the situation improved.  We finally got our food, and devoured it.  I love a patty melt, and they'll do one for me there with a veggie patty - YUMMY.

By the time we had finished eating, it was past my bedtime.  I ran Rhonda home, and after yet another blessedly short run through CVS (this the one near my house, to pick up a prescription) went home myself, but I couldn't go to bed.  There were things to do.

I cleaned the inside of the windshield to get the cleaner residue off, and put my tennies in to wash so that I could take them to the beach.  Then I washed the lunch dishes (my impromptu rice pilaf had turned out very good), brushed my teeth, and hit the sack.  It had been a very long day.
