A post in which I am losing my mind

OK, admittedly I had a tenuous grasp on it to start with.

Month end.  Quarter end.  Wow.

Closing the month and quarter is always somewhat chaotic.  To add to the mix today:
- a newly diversified revenue stream (yes, another one!) in the US, which no one knew how to classify - that screwed up the reserve
- a newly completed merger in Canada, which dumped hundreds of new accounts into their numbers - no one knew how to classify them or who was managing them
- Alan was out of the office
- apparently I work in an office of mouth-breathing idiots, none of whom can make the simplest of decisions about their own area
- we are, of course, on a tight turn-around schedule this month to turn things in
- placement-o-rama has started again, and while I was trying to deal with all of this, I was being carpet-bombed with new account placements, all of which have to be checked in and coded over

In the midst of all of this, I was receiving a series of increasingly frantic text messages from Adam, who seemed to think I was mad at him.  I sent a text back explaining the situation, and that I didn't have time to play today, but he did not seem appeased.

I did get some answers, and after a very chaotic morning, was able to put some things in place this afternoon.  I got my calls done, and later in the day I got my other scheduled regular tasks competed.  I was able to leave the office around 6:45pm. On the way home, I contemplated what would happen to the office if something happened to Alan.  Apparently the entire place would just implode.  I thought about carrying that kind of importance/responsibility. All in all, I'm not that sorry I don't.  Wouldn't mind the paycheck, but that's a big weight to carry.

I had to go by the store on the way home.  They had a lovely loaf of sourdough bread on sale, which I bought, sliced, and froze.  I used some of it to make a gorgeous huge sammich, which I devoured, along with some Rice Crispy Treats (also on sale 2 for 1), and went to bed.

Gary and I were suposed to talk tonight, but I begged off. A call came in as I was trying to get to sleep (I had already turned the ringer off), and I saw that it was Adam.  Oy.  I just let it go to voicemail.  I am completely knackered.  Enough.

Why thank you Joe. It's funnier writing the post than it was living through it :)
