All is calm, all is bright

Went to see Dad tonight for his birthday. It's actually tomorrow, but they have a special church service tomorrow. I was a bit worried, because my dad and I have almost nothing in common, aside from being carbon-based life forms and sharing some DNA. We usually get along much better if we only see each other every other month or so. It went very well though. I was a bit worried about his present. My dad is impossible to buy for. Anything he needs/wants/fancies/has a passing interest in he already owns. I had decided to get him a book that I thought he would like, but the author is a lesbian. Dad has issues with the whole gay thing (which I kind of like saying the Titanic had issues with icebergs), so I didn't know if he would read the book if I told him about the author. On the other hand, if I didn't tell him, and he found out, he would think I was trying to get one past him and I would be in the doghouse. I decided to come clean, and he was very gracious about it, surprisingly. I don't know if he'll read it or not, but at least he was nice about it.

We had delish shrimp scampi for dinner, and my step-mom sent it home with me, along with a pint of lobster bisque and a mushroom quiche (they have a new Costco membership, and have been trying things out, apparently), so I don't have to worry about cooking anything else this week. I finally got to the grocery store last night on the way home too, so got the little fill-in stuff I needed. My week is coming together.

But I still don't have an evening free until Friday. I'm hoping Sweet Justin will come to watch movies Friday night, but haven't heard from him. Now Voyager is coming on TCM Friday night, one of my favorites.

I am shaping up to have quite a busy calendar for next week. I thought I was going to get some rest (and maybe a bit of cleaning done), but now it doesn't look like that will happen.

- 12-25 Christmas brunch, bringing a quiche, which will need to be mixed up the day before

-12-26 Christmas with family, including one sister and her in-laws

- 12-27 Brother-in-laws birthday dinner

- 12-29 Bear Christmas party/pot-luck, will have a dish to prepare to take

- 12-30 Dan'l and Jim's Christmas party - will need to look smashing, as a really cute guy I like will be there.

And that doesn't even include NYE stuff (ew- despise NYE)

And back to work on 1-2-08
